About the Junior Surf Programme

Building water confidence, awareness and ability

Junior Surf is the best way to foster water confidence and surf safety awareness, while building technical abilities when handling surf craft (boogie boards, kneeboards).

We promote the development of water rescue techniques through increasing knowledge of surf conditions, use of rescue boards, tubes and fins, and being able to assess risk factors before going into the water.

Parents' Involvement

The success of junior surf is based on active support from parents. Parents are encouraged to participate in the activities and help ensure we have a ratio of 1 adult to 5 children for their water activities. If we do not meet the water-based ratios then activities may be called off for safety reasons.

We will give training for all parents who wish to help out. There will be qualified lifeguards at all Junior Surf days to assist with ratios as well.
